Quilt Exhibition

Karen Wirth’s quilt Orange Fig Leaf will be on display in the non-judged quilt exhibition at the Minnesota Quilter’s 43rd Quilt Show and Conference in St. Cloud, MN. June 16-18, 2022. The quilt rearranges traditional 9-patch blocks into random blocks with an overlay of radiating fans.

46: Artists' Books from Franklin Furnace Archive

Karen Wirth’s artist’s book Nude Youths is included in "46: Artists' Books from Franklin Furnace Archive, 1976-2022,” installed at Pratt Institute Library, New York, in honor of the Franklin Furnaces’ 46th anniversary. The book represents the year 1990.

The virtual component of the Exhibition is live on the FF LOFT! highlighting one book per year. For the virtual opening on May 31, co-curators Fang-Yu Liu and Nicole Rosengurt will provide a guided tour of the exhibition and the virtual exhibition online. The curators will share insights on how they selected these books, explore thematic threads connecting the works, discuss the variety of forms featured in the exhibition, and engage in Q&A with the audience.

Quilts Auctioned for MCAD Scholarship Fund

Daisy Field and Gold Herons, two quilts designed and sewn by Karen Wirth, are included in The Auction at MCAD to benefit student scholarships. Daisy Field is based on a 9-patch block, quilted with diamonds in squares, with trapunto flower appliques. In Gold Herons, traditional Japanese herons, float in undulating waves of cream and gold fabrics. On display at the MCAD Gallery in May, the online silent auction takes place May 20, 2022.
